Curriculum
Our training program consists of course work in three departments (Psychology, Educational Psychology, Child Psychology) and other related disciplines (Family Social Science), seminars specifically related to the practice of psychology in the expanded community-school, and practica and internship experiences at public schools and community agencies locally or nationwide.
In addition to basic courses in psychology, child development, educational psychology, and carefully sequenced applied experiences, you will spend 10-20 hours each week helping with an ongoing research project.
To fulfill practica requirements, you will work in both educational and clinical settings. Clinical work focuses on child and adolescent populations. Examples of placements include Wilder Child Guidance Center, Pilot City Mental Health, Washburn Child Guidance, and Minneapolis Children's Medical Center.
