rep: what is the MPQ?
REP: What is the MPQ?
1 Explanation:

The Multidimensional Personality Questionnaire (MPQ) is a personality inventory developed by University of Minnesota faculty.

It is part of an on-going research program in the structure of personality and its behavioral correlates.

The 11 scales of the MPQ assess personality characteristics found in normal people (like extraversion and conscientiousness).

2

How to take the MPQ :

As of this term, it is possible to complete the MPQ on-line. Completing the MPQ is worth 2 points.

In addition, you can receive feedback on your scores, if you are curious.

Please notice two other things to indicate on the consent form. Both of these are optional:

  1. You may sign up for additional research opportunities if you choose.
  2. You can indicate whether you want to receive feedback on your MPQ scores.
3

How to get feedback:

If you are curious about your MPQ scores, you may receive feedback from a trained counselor at the University Counseling and Consulting Center.

Please note that receiving feedback is strictly optional. It is not a requirement of the research study nor is it a requirement for Psy 1001. Receiving feedback is an opportunity for you to learn more about yourself.

Because your responses to the MPQ are confidential, there are some extra steps required to get the feedback report to a counselor:

If you respond 'yes, you would like to receive feedback' you will receive an email from Stephen Benning, a graduate student in the Department of Psychology. This email will provide instructions on how to arrange an 'MPQ feedback session' with one of the counselors at the University Counseling and Consulting Services (UCCS, 109 Eddy Hall. 612-624-3323).

All feedback sessions need to be scheduled before November 15.

4

About the feedback :

At the MPQ feedback session, you will learn about the different scales of the MPQ, how you scored, what your scores mean and what these scores may tell you about your behavior.

When we get to Personality module in April, I will explain more about the psychological constructs measured by these scales.

This opportunity has been made available because the best way to learn personality theory is to complete a personality inventory, and because many students are curious about themselves.
