Degree Programs
Graduate training focuses on the Ph.D., although several areas require that students complete research leading to an M.A. degree as part of the Ph.D. program. We do not admit students for a terminal Master's degree. Doctoral program specialties are offered in biological psychopathology; clinical science and psychopathology research; cognitive and biological psychology; counseling psychology; industrial/organizational psychology; personality, individual differences, and behavior genetics; quantitative/psychometric methods; school psychology; and social psychology. With the aid of your adviser, you will develop an individual program that reflects your interests and gives breadth to your general psychology background. We encourage early involvement in original research and completion of both general and specialized courses. Graduate study in the department is essentially full-time study.
Transfer of credits from other graduate programs: Credit toward the Ph.D. degree for graduate work completed elsewhere is arranged after the student has enrolled in the program.
