       My graduate work was done at the Parmly Hearing Institute of Loyola University of Chicago with Dr. William A. Yost and Dr. Raymond H. Dye, Jr. My dissertation examined the ability of listeners to extract binaural information in one region of the auditory spectrum when conflicting information is present in other spectral regions.

       From 1992-1996, I worked at the Waisman Center for the Study of Mental Retardation at the University of Wisconsin in Madison. There, in Dr. Frederic A. Wightman’s Hearing Development Research Lab, I performed experiments on the ability of pre-school listeners to attend to intensity changes in specific elements of an auditory stimulus while ignoring other, distracting elements. In collaboration with Dr. Robert A. Lutfi, I also worked on similar types of experiments involving the ability of adult listeners to selectively attend to binaural information in tonal complexes.

       In 1996, I arrived at the Psychoacoustics Lab, which is directed by Dr. Neal F. Viemeister. See the "Research" section of this website to find out about our more recent work.
