       My doctoral dissertation focused on the perception of suprathreshold amplitude and frequency modulation by listeners with normal hearing and listeners with a unilateral sensorineural hearing loss. In particular, the study examined to what extent damage to the cochlea, and to OHCs in particular, alters perception of these dynamic changes in acoustic stimuli.

       After receiving my Ph.D. degree from Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznan, Poland, I came to the United States to work as a Postdoctoral Research Associate in Dr. Viemeister’s lab. Here, I have continued studying perception of suprathreshold amplitude changes by estimating subjectively equivalent modulation depths and intensity increments imposed on carriers that differed in intensity.

       More recently, I have also worked on the effects of basilar-membrane compression on temporal masking in listeners with normal and impaired hearing. This work has been done in the Clinical Psychoacoustics Lab headed by Dr. David Nelson. I have been also interested in the effects of adaptation on intensity discrimination in cochlear-implant users.
