Gathering information about prospective employers is useful at any stage of the career decision making process. This knowledge is useful in the initial stages when you are trying to identify companies and organizations for which you would like to work. In your initial contacts with a potential employer, demonstrating interest in and knowledge of the organization may increase the employer’s interest in you. During the interview process, being informed about the company or organization conveys to the prospective employer that you care about and truly want to work at his/her organization.
