Call for Papers!
Deadline for receipt of manuscripts: February 1, 2010

(for the May, 2010 issue)

Submit your manuscript for possible publication in the next issue of Sentience! This is a great opportunity to have your work showcased in a peer-reviewed journal! Submit a paper based on research conducted in undergraduate courses such as Research Methods or Major Project, honors theses, or from directed or independent research.

Submission Guidelines

  • The first author must be an undergraduate student at the University of Minnesota. There may be additional authors consisting of undergraduate/graduate students or faculty/staff, but the undergraduate first author must be the primary investigator on the project and the primary author of the manuscript. The ordering of authors should reflect the relative contribution of the authors to the project.
  • Manuscripts must be in APA format! (Including 12-point Times New Roman font and 1-inch margins.)
  • Manuscripts must describe completed research projects, including real data. Literature reviews and research proposals will not be considered.
  • Manuscripts must be a total length of 20 pages or less (including title page, abstract, references, tables, figures, and appendices).
  • If your manuscript is based on a paper that was written to fulfill a class requirement, you must have received a grade of at least B+ on the paper.
  • Seniors have up to one year following graduation to submit a manuscript. The work on which the manuscript is based must have been completed when the author was an undergraduate.
  • Manuscripts must be polished, final products that reflect reasonable proofreading and care in their preparation.

As is typical of most refereed scientific journals, submitted manuscripts will be reviewed by the Editorial Board. A decision will be made to accept the manuscript as is, reconsider the manuscript after revision, or reject the manuscript. If revisions are necessary, the first author will be responsible for revising the manuscript and resubmitting it by the given deadline.
