Scholarships and Awards

  • APA Engagement Awards
APA Engagement Awards support Psychology undergraduates completing hands-on engagement experiences within the local, national or international community. These awards were designed to provide financial support to students participating in learning experiences beyond the campus and classroom environments. Qualifying experiences include, but are not limited to, study abroad that incorporates an internship or research in psychology or a related field, unpaid internships or volunteer experiences in the local community, and short term service experiences. These types of engagement experiences enable you to extend your learning in psychology into real world settings.
  • Mortensen Scholarships
The Department of Psychology is proud to offer Junita J. Mortensen Scholarships for psychology undergraduate students. Each year several academic scholarships and one study abroad scholarship, each in the amount of $1000, are awarded to psychology students.
  • Mortensen Travel & Research Awards
Mortensen Travel Awards are available for psychology students presenting a poster or paper at an undergraduate research conference or professional psychological conference. Research Awards are designed to be used toward research projects undertaken in collaboration with Department of Psychology or affiliated faculty. Award applications are accepted on a rolling basis throughout the academic year until the annual funds are exhausted. Awards of up to $250 will be granted to selected participants.
  • CLA Honors Division
    20 Nicholson
    (612) 624-5522
CLA Honors has information and application materials for a variety of scholarships for students (not necessarily in Honors) who have GPAs of 3.5 or better. These scholarships range from general scholarships for academic achievement to scholarships targeted to populations with special concerns— non-traditional students, new transfer students, minority students, or students with particular academic interests. CLA Honors also has information about national scholarships and assists students applying for these awards.
  • UROP Office
    345 Fraser Hall
    (612) 624-8006
The Undergraduate Research Opportunities program supports research or creative projects undertaken in partnership with a faculty member. Financial awards of up to $1400 are offered twice a year to full time undergraduates. These grants provide students an excellent opportunity to receive a stipend for work on a research project of their own design.
