Mortensen Travel & Research Awards
Travel Awards are available through the Psychology department for undergraduate psychology majors who are presenting a poster or paper at an undergraduate research conference or professional psychological conference. (Copies of conference acceptance materials are required).
Research Awards are granted to undergraduate psychology majors for use toward research projects undertaken in collaboration with Department of Psychology or affiliated faculty. Honors thesis projects, major projects, or other student-initiated research endeavors for which appropriate research-related expenses have been or will be incurred are eligible for research awards. (Reimbursement for time spent working on the project is not an eligible expense).
Mortensen Travel & Research Awards: Applications are accepted on a rolling basis throughout the academic year until the annual award funds are exhausted. Awards of up to $250 will be granted to selected participants. Each student is limited to one Travel/Research Award per academic year.

Application Materials:
- Application form - This completed application form should serve as the cover sheet for your application materials.
- Project description - Write a 1 page (maximum) description of the project. If appropriate, an abstract is acceptable.
- Expense estimate - Itemize the expenses you anticipate from your travels or research, as appropriate, on the Statement of Expenses worksheet. You will be required to submit appropriate receipts within 30 days of expenditures for reimbursement. (Faculty mentor signature required).
In addition, for Travel Requests:
- Notification of conference acceptance - Attach a copy of your letter of notification that you have been accepted as a conference presenter.
