The Department of Psychology in the College of Liberal Arts at the University of Minnesota invites applications for a full-time, contract faculty position in Counseling Psychology beginning Fall 2015. Appointment will be at the rank of contract assistant professor.
The initial term of this appointment is academic year 2015/16, beginning August 31, 2015 and concluding May 29, 2016. The appointment is for a fixed one-year term.
Candidates must have completed the requirements for the Ph.D. in Counseling Psychology or a related field by the start date of the appointment.
Essential Qualifications are demonstrated scholarly excellence and successful teaching experience.
Candidates will be evaluated according to the overall quality of academic preparation and professional experience, evidence of commitment to teaching and skills as a teacher, and strength of recommendations.
Contract faculty in the Department of Psychology in the College of Liberal Arts are expected to maintain an active program of scholarly research; develop and teach undergraduate and graduate courses; advise students; and contribute service appropriate for the rank of appointment.
Teaching responsibilities across 9 months will consist of 5 graduate and/or undergraduate courses in our core curriculum. One undergraduate course will include Introduction to Counseling Psychology, which is a large enrollment course. Other undergraduate courses could include Psychology of Stress and Trauma, Introduction to Cultural Psychology, Vocational and Occupational Health Psychology or Psychology of Women and Gender. Graduate teaching might include Counseling Psychology History and Theories and an Advanced Practicum Seminar. Additionally, the applicant may be able to offer specialized graduate/undergraduate research seminars tailored to his or her research interests and expertise, with the specific choice of courses to be determined in consultation with the Department of Psychology. Course assignments will depend on qualifications.
Successful applicants will also be expected to contribute to the service needs of the Department, College, and University. The resources of a major research and graduate training department and its faculty are available to support faculty members' work.
